The Optilux Extreme Yellow (XY) Bulbs are able to provide the vehicle owner with both fit and function. The Optilux XY Bulbs are designed to give you better visibility in extreme weather conditions as well as provide you with the look of the GTS Series race car lights. Race car drivers prefer a yellow beam because it provides a better color contrast in rainy, foggy and white out situations. The Optilux XY Bulbs produce a crisp yellow light from a bulb that is manufactured to the most precise measurements to provide the exact amount of light needed on the road.

NOTE: There was a great deal of part number confusion when this bulb was first introduced. One bulb manufacturer incorrectly identified the bulb as H16/9009 and everyone else followed suit. The H16/9009 is a rarely seen bulb in the USA, but is used on some VWs in Europe. In fact, our bulbs are incorrectly labeled both on the bulb and on the package.

The 2504 is the same as the original equipment Jeep PSX24W. It is a 24 Watt Incandescant bulb with an 18mm diameter spherical globe. The base is a PG20/7.

This bulb is a 35 Watt 5202 Halogen bulb with a T4 (11.5mm diameter) tubular globe. The base is PG20/3.

This bulb will work, but it requires a minor modification of the base. Look at the picture comparing the PG20/7 and the PG20/3 bases and you will see that there is a rib (High lighted in green), which is intended to prevent inserting the wrong bulb in the lamp. Removing this rib will allow the use of this bulb

      Technology

      • Xenon Gas added to the halogen gas mix Helps cool the Filliment and allows for a smaller wire diameter with more coils that glows brighter and makes about 80% more light than a standard Halogen Bulb.

      • To decrease the temperature of the light, an envelope made of yellow quartz is used to filter out the blue light which in turn yellows the light to about 2600°K.

      • Any filtering will, of course, block some of the light. Comparison with simular bulbs without a colored globe shows a loss of lumens on the 5% range.

      • Sold for off road and competition use.
