      D2R Stands for "Discharge Second Generation Reflector". Bulbs are specifically designed for reflector headlamps. Reflector headlamps do not have a projector lens and as such the light pattern is controled only by the shape of the main reflector. A portion of the globe is painted to prevent stray light from effecting the light pattern.

      There is no ignitor on a D2R bulb, it is contained in the ballest box.
