MY STUFF -

These are some technical articles and guides that I've put together and wish to share.

  • Some late model vehicles have really miserable headlamps that can be fixed by simply replacing them with the Hella Euro version. Some OEs however, have put in a sealed beam that does not have a standard H4 connector on the back. Some of these applications are downright dangerous at night. The following instructions take you through the modification process so you can enjoy seeing the road at night again! These instructions are for the specific vehicles indicated - but if you have an H4666, H6545 or H4668 sealed beam the basic procedure top adapt the 72146 is the same.

  • So you want to Rally? My Getting Started in SCCA PRO Rally will get you on your way.
  • If you are concerned about the COST of PRO Rally, check out the following two articles - More on Getting Started in PRO Rally - The Real Cost, Part I, which discusses Car Prep and Car Maintenance, and Part II, which discusses Event Cost.

So you want to learn how to drive a rally car - or just hone your car control skills to a fine point. Try the Team O'Neil Car Control Center in Franconia, NH. When Tim O'Neil, the lead driving instructor, talks about driving, people listen. When he demonstrates, they pay even closer attention. This New Hampshire native is internationally renowned not only for his five U.S. and North American Rally Championships - but for his intense dedication to driving safety as well. At the height of a brilliant career with Volkswagen and Mitsubishi, under whose banners he field-premiered new technology and established new driving methodologies, Tim withdrew from competition to follow his passion to teach -- and develop his nationally recognized Tim O'Neil Rally Driving School .

From their home page, "The Border To Border Expedition Society was formed to promote the spirit of adventure, heritage and freedom inherent with ownership of the world's most durable and versatile off-road vehicles." Trans-America Trek 98 was their inaugural event that celebrated both Land Rover's marque anniversary and the birth of the Border To Border Expedition Society. Twenty-seven Land Rovers and 56 enthusiasts drove over 2,300 miles mainly off-road from Canada to Mexico through Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Arizona. Their next trek is this February and   sees a limited number of Land Rovers head up onto the edge of the Arctic to explore temporary winter roads connecting the remote settlements along James Bay.

GENERAL AUTOMOTIVE INTEREST -

These automotive related pages are sometimes useful and make for interesting browsing.

  • If you drive frequently on the open highway, you may find The Speedtrap Registry to be helpful in your travels. If knowing where the speed traps are at does not help, then try the American Bar Association. Go to the state listings and pick an attorney in the same town as your hearing. It worked for me!
