Scientific eye tests on a representative section of men and women of different ages returned the remarkable findings set out below. Direct comparison of the various age groups confirmed what we already knew, namely that older people need more light than younger ones, but there was a surprising discovery too: The scale of the increase in the amount of light needed is enormous and it rises even faster with age.
