Tools needed: Medium/Small Phillips Head Screwdriver, Small Flat Head Screwdriver. Time required: 10-15 min per side.
- With the Probe's headlamp housings raised and the lights off (push the auxiliary button that raises the headlamps), unscrew the 2 phillips screws. There is 1 screw toward the front (toward you) on each side of the plastic molding that surrounds the Probe's headlamp housing.
- Remove the plastic molding. Be careful not to break the 2 pins that help hold the molding in place. There is one pin located on each side of the molding towards the back of the housing.
- Once the plastic molding is removed unscrew the 4 screws that hold the metal bracket around the headlamp. Be careful not to touch the 2 adjusting screws; one, located in the middle of the bottom portion of the metal bracket and the other, located in the middle of the outside portion of the metal bracket.
- With the bracket removed, the headlamp should pull out of the Probe's headlamp housing. Reach in back of the headlamp and unplug the headlamp from the Probe's wiring harness plug.
- In order to install the Hella headlamp, the male connectors from the small Hella wiring adapter supplied with the lamp need to be removed from the plug. If you look on the inside of each flat male connector, youll see a small rectangular opening. If you slip a paper clip or small jewelers screwdriver into this opening, you can release the clip that holds the pin in the connector and slide it out the back of the connector.
- Now it's time to hook up the Hella headlamp. Have someone hold the headlamp close to the opening of the Probe's headlamp housing so you can plug the Probe's female connectors onto the Hella headlamp's plug. The hookup is as follows:
Brown Hella to Black Probe
White Hella to Red/White Probe
Yellow Hella to Red/Black Probe
-
Once the wires are hooked up, place the metal bracket around the Hella headlamp and screw it back into the Probe's headlamp housing.
-
Replace the plastic molding - Be careful of the pins.
-
Screw the plastic molding back onto the Probe's headlamp housing.
-
Repeat the steps for the other headlamp.
