XENON bulbs use a mixture of Halogen gases including Xenon, which acts as a heat disapater, into the bulb and allows the use of a hotter filiment. A hotter filament emits a whiter light. Light color is measured in degrees Kelvin (K). See the Help Guide reference to DOT lighting for more information. Hella's new High Performance Xenon Blue Bulbs are manufactured by Hella to the the most stringent standards in the industry. |

Dichroic 9005/HB3
Bulbs - 12V |
||||
A Dichroic bulb
is an Ion Crystal coated bulb that emits a yellow color - this
is commonly called an "all weather" bulb because the
yellow/amber color makes it significantly easier for on-coming
traffic to see you in bad weather. The color is toward the warmer
end of the visible light spectrum and has a longer wavelength which
does not diffract as much as cooler colors therefore causing less
eye strain. |

Extreme
Yellow Xenon 9005/HB3 Bulbs
- 12V |
||||
The Optilux
Extreme Yellow Xenon bulb
is a the first High Perfomance Yellow or Amber Bulb to be offered. These
bulbs are not as Yellow as a YellowStar. The Extreme
Yellow Xenon bulbs have been designed
to replace the Dichroic YellowStar bulbs because the chemicals
used in Dichroic Bulbs are considered hazardous in Europe, and
will not longer be available there. Bulbs that emit
a yellow color are commonly called "all weather" bulbs
because the yellow/amber color makes it significantly easier
for on-coming traffic to see you in bad weather, and, more importantly,
the yellow or amber color does not reflect back from rain, fog
or snow as much as white or blue bulbs. The color
is toward the warmer end of the visible light spectrum and has
a longer wavelength which does not diffract as much as cooler
colors therefore causing less eye strain. This brings
new performance options for those who want Yellow or Amber Lighting. |

Interestingly enough, the 9011 bulb can be used in a 9005 lamp with a simple modification with a Dremel tool or file. Due to federal regulations, we can not make this modification, but you, the end user, can. The material to remove is marked on each bulb. |
